Impact Checklist

PHYSICAL PLAN - BEFORE
  • Call fire department, police, etc.
  • Call Disaster Masters ® at
    1-800-THE-CLAIM
  • Notify in-house Disaster Team
  • Declare a disaster
  • Safeguard staff
  • Safeguard property
  • Assure staff things will get back to normal
  • Perform witch hunts for work in progress
  • Recover Rolodex, personal belongings of employees
  • Protect property from further losses
  • Arrest on-going damage
  • Call telephone company
  • Commence assessing the damage
  • Remove salvaged property to secure facilities
  • Retrieve stored information
  • Set up temporary facilities

FINANCIAL PLAN - BEFORE

  • Notify insurance company
  • Create hourly diary and file for events and costs
  • Document meetings, conversations, telephone calls
  • Record names and addresses of witnesses
  • Ignore public adjusters totally
  • Gather insurance claim from planning sessions
  • Gather emergency service invoices
  • Gather appraisals and photographic inventories
  • Gather latest inventories
  • Gather records - accounts receivable, payroll, etc.
  • Notify bank
  • Gather cash flow records
  • Use outside resources whenever possible
  • Avoid using personnel for salvage/restoration work
  • Commence establishing the scope of loss
  • Notify appropriate contractors that bids are needed
  • Consult with Disaster Masters ® at 1-800 THE CLAM
